Catholic Museum of Bagamoyo

Bagamoyo Catholic Museum is located 70 kilometres north of Dar es Salaam City the commercial hub of Tanzania along the east coast of the Indian Ocean. The museum, completely renovated some years ago, can be found inside the Catholic Mission in the north of Bagamoyo. One can find some interesting information about the history of Bagamoyo, the history of slavery and German Colonialism, the history of catholic missions in East Africa and more. The Museum is small but displays the history of slave trade and ivory in east Africa, the German colony, Church and Mission history. It has old documents, photographs and relics from slave trade period. In addition the history of Bagamoyo is also preserved.
